About
Temple B’nai Israel, a Reform congregation in Tupelo, Mississippi, has been the center of the Jewish community of Northeast Mississippi for seventy years.
Founded in 1939, Temple B’nai Israel provides a place for our congregation to learn and pray, to read the Torah, to observe the Sabbath and holidays, and to celebrate and commemorate the cycle of Jewish life.
We hold weekly Shabbat services, as well as special holiday services and events throughout the year, including a Community Seder on Passover. From the beginning of our congregation, Temple B’nai Israel has reached out the community at large, and we warmly welcome everyone to join us for services.
Our current Temple was built in 1957, and in 2007 we rededicated the building and celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. In recent years Temple B’nai Israel has undergone substantial renovation. In the spring of 2009, a new and beautiful Library will be dedicated.
Today and for many years to come, Temple B’nai Israel is and will remain the home of Jewish life in Northeast Mississippi, and a light to the entire community.
